St. Andrew's Windows

 CREATION

The first window depicts CREATION and the Book of Genesis.  The hand of God forms the round earth.  A
galaxy spins beside the hand.  The sun behind the
galaxy bursts out with its life giving energy.  The crescent moon and Saturn complete the picture.  The rainbow coming from the sun above the galaxy and hand
represents the Lord’s Covenant with Noah.  The streams
of stars represent the Covenant with Abraham, wherein
God declared, “Your seed will be greater in number
than the stars in the heavens.”

LAW

The LAW window starts at the top with a shaft of light coming down on top of the Tablets of the Law.  The gray mass in the background represents Mount Sinai.  Superimposed over the Tablets is the Scroll of the Torah representing the further development of the Law.  The
flame above the Menorah and the Menorah represent
the development of the unique Hebrew race.  In the
lower right corner we show the burning bush to depict Moses’ reluctance to follow God, and the theopanies of
the Pentateuch.

PROPHETS

The PROPHETS window shows forth the way of the Christ.
The prophet points to the star of Bethlehem.  The Hebrew
letter “yod” is the initial of the word “Jehovah” or ‘Yhwh”,
the holy name of God.  The coal in the tongs represents
the cleansing of Isaiah’s lips to preach the word of God.
Fire also represents the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The crumbling tower represents Jeremiah’s prophecy and the
fall of Jerusalem.  The yoke depicts the burden of the
prophet.

PENTECOST

PENTECOST is depicted by the hands of the grace-filled Christian reaching out to the hovering dove of the Holy
Spirit.  The window’s background movement depicts the
wind and the flames of the first Christian Pentecost.  By
this Pentecost the reality of the fullness of God is known
and we show three crosses for the Trinity to represent the Faith.

St. Andrew's stained glass windows
were designed and executed
by the Judson Studios in Pasadena, California.
They were installed in the sanctuary in November 1975.

RESURRECTION

In this depiction of  the RESURRECTION, the Lamb’s blood
has conquered death and the Holy Lamb holds the banner
of Christian Triumph.  The cloth used to wrap Jesus’ dead
body is hung on the defeated cross.  The cross itself is green, the color of eternal life, for this instrument of torture and capital punishment has brought us eternal life.  A new sun rises behind the cross casting a new light on all.  The Easter lilies at the base of the window bespeak the full joy of all God’s creation.

INCARNATION

The INCARNATION as depicted by the Chi Rho crib (manger) and the yellow Star of Bethlehem cross represents the birth of Jesus.  The flow of warm colors in the background represents the coming of God to earth for all time, not just in inspirations of individuals but for all time to all men.  The barrier dividing God and Man is broken as Jesus is born, God incarnate in human form.  The three crowns represent Epiphany or the showing forth of the Godhood of Jesus to the world through the Wise Men.
